First quarter 2015 saw the highest fundraising volume since third quarter 2008. Now that second quarter numbers are in, we can start thinking that the first quarter numbers might be part of a trend as fundraising in second quarter 2015 is continuing the record pace. The $28.4 billion total capital reported by funds holding final closings in April, May or June is the most of any second quarter since 2008.

A total of 36 new investment funds were launched during second quarter 2015, showing a slight similarity to second quarter 2014. This similarity is shown when you look back at the beginning of 2014.
