Asian investor capital keeps flowing into U.S. properties

Gateway and other cities in the United States are seeing an influx of Asian capital, as overseas investors and developers have been acquiring commercial property quickly and often.

“It reflects the strength of the Asian economies, in that they have capital to invest as the economic growth in Asia is leading to more wealth privately, and in government wealth funds,” explains Raymond Torto, chief global economist at CBRE. Torto adds that Asian investors’ love of real estate, coupled with a high savings rate, “should continue a flow, not flood, of funds to U.S. real estate.”
