The Washington State Investment Board has committed $1.1 billion to real estate, divided between two separate accounts, confirms Liz Mendizabal, institutional relations director with WSIB.
Calzada Capital Partners received a commitment of $600 million, increasing WSIB’s total existing commitment to $2.7 billion. Calzada invests in real estate operating companies globally with an emphasis on the Americas.
Evergreen Real Estate Partners received the remaining $500 million, increasing WSIB’s total existing commitment to $3.0 billion. Evergreen Partners is a real estate development company focused on the acquisition, re-development and long-term ownership of affordable rental housing.
As of Sept. 30, 22.8 percent of WSIB’s real estate portfolio is allocated to residential real estate, more than any other property type.
