by Andrea Waitrovich

GI Partners has raised $1.66 billion for its fourth fund, GI Partners Fund IV, according to a filing with the SEC. The opportunistic fund launched in September 2012 with a $2 billion fundraising goal. The firm had scheduled a final close in October 2013; however, it is being reported that the final close was extended to the end of the first quarter 2014.

Fund IV investments will include healthcare, industrial, mixed-use, regional malls, self-storage, senior housing, single family, retail, hotel and securities assets in North America.

The firm’s third fund closed in 2009 with more than $1.9 billion. GI Partners Fund II closed in 2006 with $1.5 billion.
