Core, open-end fund returns dip in third quarter

Preliminary data indicates core, open-end real estate funds had a total return before fees of 3.68 percent in third quarter 2015, down from 3.82 percent in the previous quarter, according to the preliminary snapshot results of the NCREIF Fund Index –Open-end Diversified Core Equity.

The NFI-ODCE tracks 23 open-end commingled funds pursuing a core investment strategy. Income returns have dropped slightly to 1.16 percent from 1.19 percent in the second quarter. Appreciation also decreased to 2.51 percent from 2.62 percent in the previous quarter. The final NFI-ODCE numbers will be released Oct. 30.
