Brandywine Realty Trust forms $3.5b partnership

by Andrea Waitrovich

Brandywine Realty Trust has formed a partnership with Drexel University to develop Philadelphia’s Schuylkill Yards project, a $3.5 billion, 14-acre master-planned community.

The $3.5 billion mixed-use project will be developed in multiple phases over 20 years. It will consist of 5 million gross square feet of mixed-use real estate of office, lab, residential, hotel, retail and open space on a 10-acre site next to Drexel’s main campus and adjacent to Amtrak’s 30th Street Station.

The project will incorporate existing buildings that will be redeveloped as well as new construction.

Schuylkill Yards’ development will begin with the creation of Drexel Square, a 1.3-acre park at 30th and Market streets, directly across from Amtrak’s 30th Street Station.

As master developer, Brandywine will oversee a development team that includes Gotham Organization leading the residential development and Longfellow Real Estate Partner
