There’s something about lists and numbers that capture readers’ attention; everyone seems to enjoy reading some categorical ranking and then weighing in and debating the results.

Forbes magazine has its annual lists, including rankings of America’s largest companies, the 400 richest Americans and the most powerful celebrities. There’s the annual TIME100 issue, where the magazine lists the most influential people in the world and also publishes a slew of other top 10 lists, such as Top 10 Political Sex Scandals and Top 10 Donald Trump Failures. Peoplemagazine has its annual “Most Beautiful” list, and U.S. News & World Reportannually evaluates and ranks the nation’s universities.
