The Money Talks: Investors Switch Gears to Negotiate Market Turns

Clear blue skies and swanky beachfront property gave the members of the 2008 Editorial Advisory Board for The Institutional Real Estate Letter a brief respite from the stormy capital market conditions of the past six months. Gourmet food, cocktail hour and beach volleyball aside, the participants were there to get down to business and discuss the changing investment market conditions and the effects on their commercial real estate portfolios.

The annual meeting of the Editorial Advisory Board, held February 4–6 at The Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach, Calif., was an opportunity for some of the pension fund industry’s most active and influential real estate executives to share their thoughts, concerns and investment plans. In an exclusive, closed-door event, the 68 board members tackled topics that ranged from credit crisis fallout to global investing to concerns about staffing and ever-increasing management fees.
