2013 fundraising flat among equity REITs

U.S. equity REITs raised $65.48 billion in 2013, slightly less than the $65.75 billion raised in 2012, according to statistics tracked by SNL Financial.

Though the numbers were far smaller, the story was brighter among non-traded REITs. They raised about $19.6 billion during 2013, well in excess of the $10.3 billion they raised during 2012, according to numbers reported by American Realty Capital.

Among equity REITs, it was only senior debt offerings in 2013 that exceeded the prior year’s amount raised, recording a total of $29.53 billion in 2013 compared with $24.65 billion in 2012.
