The C$152.8 billion ($154 billion) Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has acquired a minority stake in five major Chilean toll roads from the toll road operator Atlantia Group. CPPIB paid Atlantia Group 560 billion Chilean pesos ($1.15 billion) for 49.99 percent ownership of Grupo Costanera.
Grupo Costanera owns a portfolio of five toll roads that span a 188-kilometer network. Four of the toll roads are located in the Santiago metropolitan region and include two major commuter motorways. The fifth toll road is located on the central coast of Chile. Atlantia Group will continue to own the balance of Grupo Costanera, the largest urban toll road operator in Chile.
