Orange County commits $150m to energy investments

The $12.6 billion Orange County Employees Retirement System has committed a total of $150 million to three energy-related investments.

The retirement system committed $35 million to EnerVest Energy Institutional Fund XIV; $65 million to Kayne Anderson Energy Fund VII, managed by Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors; and $50 million to Ridgewood Energy Oil & Gas Fund III.

OCERS has invested with both EnerVest and Kayne Anderson before. The pension fund committed $40 million to EnerVest Energy Institutional Fund XIII in October 2012 and $100 million to Kayne Private Energy Income Fund in November 2014.
