Virginia commits $75m to energy fund

The $68.6 billion Virginia Retirement System has committed $75 million to Lime Rock Resources IV, according to recent meeting documents.

Lime Rock Resources acquires, operates and improves oil and gas producing properties in six states. In May 2015, the firm acquired 30,000 net acres of natural gas property in Arkansas, Oklahoma and East Texas.

Other investors in Fund IV include the Denver Employees Retirement Plan and the San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System.

As of Dec. 31, 2015, the retirement system had a 12.8 percent allocation to real assets.
