Swiss Life to buy London property company

by Andrea Waitrovich

Swiss Life has acquired U.K. property investment firm Mayfair Capital Investment Management, which has a portfolio valued at approximately £1 billion ($1.24 billion) .

Swiss Life has plans to bring together its real estate teams in Switzerland, Germany, France and the United Kingdom to create one business with around £55.3 billion ($68.4 billion) of real estate assets under management.

In the United Kingdom, Mayfair Capital manages the Property Income Trust for Charities and is adviser to the Mayfair Capital Property Unit Trust (on behalf of clients of Schroder Real Estate Capital Partners) and Mayfair Capital Commercial Property Trust (on behalf of clients of Jupiter Asset Management). In addition, the business manages two residential debt funds where the investors are a combination of pension funds and high-net-worth individuals.

The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter
