Houston pension fund commits $20m

The Houston Municipal Employees’ Pension System has committed $20 million to a value-added real estate funds, according to Peter Koops, a spokesperson for the pension fund.

The pension fund committed $20 million to Crow Holdings Realty Partners VII, managed by Crow Holdings Capital Partners. HMEPS has previously invested in Crow Holdings Realty Partners II and VI.

The value-added real estate fund will focus mainly on multifamily, retail and industrial properties. The fund has received commitments from the $16.9 billion State University Retirement System of Illinois and the $34.9 million Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
