Florida hires new real estate portfolio manager

The Florida State Board of Administration has hired Michael Fogliano as senior portfolio manager for the externally managed real estate portfolio. The portfolio is a combination of pooled funds and REITS. Fogliano started with the FSBA on June 22.

“The SBA is excited about Michael joining the real estate ream and we are lucky to have recruited someone of his caliber,” said Stephen Spook, senior investment officer at FSBA, in a statement.

Fogliano has been in the real estate industry for more than 26 years, with more than half of that time spent on the investment side. Prior to being hired at FSBA, Fogliano was head of underwriting for Aegon USA Realty Advisors’ Real Estate Private Equity Group.

He will be responsible for asset management and portfolio management of existing investments, according to the statement. Fogliano will also be responsible for sourcing and underwriting new investment opportunities. The current externally mana
