Equinix sells European data centers for $874m

Equinix is in contract to sell eight European data center sites to Digital Realty Trust for $874.4 million.

The assets include TelecityGroup’s Bonnington House, Sovereign House, Meridian Gate and Oliver’s Yard data centers in London; Equinix’s West Drayton data center in London; TelecityGroup’s Science Park and Amstel Business Park I in Amsterdam; and TelecityGroup’s Lyonerstrasse data center in Frankfurt. Equinix completed the acquisition of TelecityGroup on Jan. 15 in a transaction valued at approximately $3.8 billion. The portfolio includes more than 34 data centers.

The agreement is subject to certain customary closing conditions, including approval by the European Commission. The transaction is expected to close during third quarter 2016.

Separately, Equinix has negotiated a binding option to acquire Digital Realty’s data center in St. Denis, Paris.
