Construction to begin on Houston office tower

by Reg Clodfelter

Hines has announced the construction schedule for 609 Main at Texas, an office tower in Houston being developed by Hines CalPERS Green development fund, a partnership between Hines and the $277 billion California Public Employees’ Retirement System that focuses exclusively on developing sustainable office buildings throughout the United States..

The 47-story, 1.05 million-square-foot office tower will be located at the corner of Main and Texas streets in downtown Houston. Site preparation, beginning with deconstruction of a previous structure, is slated to start in the first week of November. Excavation and foundation work will begin in March 2014, and the building is expected to be ready for occupancy after just three more years of construction.
