CEO of APREA resigns

Peter Mitchell has resigned as CEO of the Singapore-based Asia Pacific Real Estate Association, effective July 1. Peter Verwer will succeed Mitchell.

Mitchell joined the organization in 2006 and has lived in Singapore for 11 years. He holds degrees in economics and law. Prior to joining APREA, Mitchell was a senior partner at Australia-based law firm Freehills, specializing in international property transactions with particular focus on securitized property. And he was a senior foreign legal adviser at Colin Ng & Partners, a Singapore-based firm.

Previously, Verwer was the CEO of the Property Council of Australia. He joined the Property Council in 1992. Verwer also played a key role in the development of the Green Building Council of Australia. He will resign his positions as chair of Livable Housing Australia, the Construction Forecasting Council and the Australia–New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee’s Business Advisory Group on Mass Gathering.

APREA is a nonprofit industry association that represents and promotes the real estate asset class in the Asia Pacific region. It is the industry body for the suppliers and users of capital in the real estate sector.
