Real estate investment activity in Australia continued to gain momentum across all property sectors during second quarter 2016, with total transaction volume of A$6.8 billion ($5.2 billion), according to Cushman & Wakefield’s “Investment Market Beat Second Quarter Australia.”
While this is an increase quarter-on-quarter, at the mid-year point investment volume is down 6 percent year-on-year at A$11.3 billion ($8.6 billion) compared with A$12.2 billion ($9.3 billion) in first half 2015, reports Cushman & Wakefield. The number of transactions recorded in the quarter declined by 17 percent during the second quarter due to the several large transactions; A$3.7 billion ($2.8 billion) — more than half of the total volume — was provided by deals in excess of A$200 million ($152 million).
