The IREI team is led by senior executives who have more than 20 years of experience in their fields of expertise.
Geoffrey Dohrmann, CRE, is founder, president and CEO of Institutional Real Estate, Inc. — a San Ramon, Calif.–based publishing and consulting company focused on meeting the information needs of the commercial real estate investment community. In this capacity, he also serves as publisher and editor-in-chief of several leading industry publications, including The Institutional Real Estate Letter – North America, The Institutional Real Estate Letter – Europe, European Real Estate Quarterly, The Institutional Real Estate Letter – Asia Pacific, The Asian REIT Report, The Institutional Real Estate Letter – Australia, Institutional Real Estate Newsline, Institutional Real Estate FundTracker, Institutional Investing in Infrastructure and IREI Monthly, as well as numerous special reports on the industry. Dohrmann also serves as conference producer of IREI's industry events, including Visions, Insights & Perspectives (VIP) – North America, VIP – Asia Investor Roundtable, VIP – Europe, Dealmakers Debt & Equity, and Institutional Investing in Infrastructure.
In addition to these responsibilities, Dohrmann served as a trustee (from 2000 through 2010) of Lexington Realty Trust (NYSE: LXP), a New York–based real estate investment trust that invests in net-leased single-tenant properties. From 2002 through 2007, he was a director and chairman of the charter board of managers for the J.P. Morgan Real Estate Income & Growth Fund, a $2 billion open-end diversified real estate investment fund. Dohrmann continues to consult with many of the leading firms in the real estate investment management industry, and also has lectured on institutional real estate market–related matters at the business schools of the University of California – Berkeley, the University of Chicago, Stanford University, Harvard University, Northwestern University, the University of North Carolina and Yale University.
A graduate of the University of California – Berkeley, Dohrmann is a member of the editorial and/or advisory boards for The Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management and Real Estate Research Corp. He is a member of the board of directors for the American Real Estate Society and is on the board of advisers for Beezwax, an Oakland, Calif.–based software development firm, and Mission Realty Advisors, a Southern California–based broker-dealer. He also is a Fellow of the Homer Hoyt Institute and the American Real Estate Society and is a member of the Counselors of Real Estate.
His professional memberships include American Real Estate Society, the Pension Real Estate Association, the Urban Land Institute (IOPC Red Council), the National Association of Real Estate Editors, the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, the Specialized Information Publishers Association, and the Pacific Pension Institute.
LessLarry Hull is the chairman of Institutional Real Estate, Inc. He is also the president of Larco Advisors, Inc., a financial consulting company. He has more than 45 years of experience in the pension fund investment business as a consultant to pension advisers and plan sponsors with a focus on developing and structuring international alternative asset investment programs. He is founder and chairman emeritus of the Pacific Pension Institute and a member of the PPI Advisory Board. Hull earned a B.A. in business administration at the University of Oregon and is a graduate of the Air War College. He is a retired Air Force colonel.
LessMark Dohrmann is chief operating officer of Institutional Real Estate, Inc., a San Ramon, Calif.–based publishing and consulting company focused on meeting the information needs of the commercial real estate investment community. In this capacity, he oversees day-to-day operations for the firm, coordinating the efforts of administration, editorial, conferences, data services, and subscription sales and marketing. He is charged with marshaling the company's limited resources to their most productive uses with the aim of creating maximum value for the company's stakeholders. He is responsible for developing and cascading the organization's strategy/mission statement to the managers and staff, and implementing appropriate rewards/recognition and coaching/corrective practices to align personnel with company goals. His role extends the time available for IREI's CEO to focus on sponsor/client relations, general business development and planning.
After graduating from Oregon State University, Mark worked for Simpson Timber Co. in production, sales/purchasing, then later for Coast Distributors Inc. as director of operations. He served as CFO and owner at Kahler-Senders Group Inc., as well as managing member of KSGIG, LLC. He was a founding member of the Consolidated Sales Network, a national association of specialty food brokers.
LessAlex Eidlin is managing director, Asia Pacific, and associate publisher with Institutional Real Estate, Inc. He oversees the planning, production and sponsorship program for The Institutional Real Estate Letter – Asia Pacific. Prior to his position with IREI, Alex was senior vice president and publisher at IRETO (The International Real Estate Trade Organization). While with IRETO, Alex published the Asia Real Estate Report, participated in numerous real estate conferences in Asia, and built relationships with institutional and private investors in Asian real estate. In addition to publishing the Asia Real Estate Report, Alex assisted a local government agency in China in its efforts to divest some of its property investments. He also worked with Chinese and foreign developers and investors, helping them implement their investment programs.
Before his assignment with IRETO Alex was a partner in the first multiple-manager real estate fund in Japan — J-Land Fund. This fund invested more than $100 million in various sectors with a carefully selected group of Japanese and foreign real estate asset managers. Prior to that, Alex worked for the acquisition team of CB Richard Ellis Investors in Tokyo and subsequently became associate director, Investor Advisory Services Group, at CB Richard Ellis, Tokyo. Alex started his career in finance at BARRA International, a premier quantitative asset management and consulting firm, where he was director of client services in its Tokyo office. Subsequently, Alex worked in Tokyo and Hong Kong for Paribas Capital Markets, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan and Fuji Capital Markets in equity and interest rate derivatives area, serving high-net-worth and corporate clients in Asian countries. In the course of his work, he has completed several high-profile transactions and delivered numerous seminars on the use of derivative products in risk management to governmental institutions and private firms in China, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Alex is fully fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese and is a native speaker of Russian.
LessSheila Hopkins is managing director – Europe and the senior editor – advertorials at Institutional Real Estate, Inc., where she has held a variety of positions over the past 10 years. During this time she served as the first editor of High Return Quarterly and Global Quarterly; was editor-at-large for other IREI publications including IREN, The Institutional Real Estate Letter and REITStreet; wrote and edited IREIzine; researched and wrote special reports; and has written many award-winning feature articles for all of IREI's publications. In addition, Sheila has worked as the advertorial editor for the entire duration, developing, editing and producing more than 150 profiles, interviews and special sections for IREI sponsors. Prior to joining IREI, Sheila worked as an advertising copywriter and designer for several ad agencies in Chicago, Tampa and Boston. Sheila has a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
LessLarry Gray serves as editorial director for Institutional Real Estate, Inc. (IREI) and is responsible for overseeing the editorial staff and production of the firm's various publications. Larry possesses more than 25 years of publishing experience and has been working in the commercial real estate industry for nearly 20 years. He joined the IREI staff in 1993 and was involved in the development, writing, editing and production of a number of the firm's publications. Larry departed in 2000 and served as an editor for Real Estate Media Inc. before becoming public relations manager for Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. He rejoined IREI in fall 2005. He began his publishing career at Touchdown Publications and also has served on the staffs of several newspapers, including the The Napa Valley Register and the Sonoma Index-Tribune. Larry earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California – Davis and a master's degree from Western Illinois University.
LessSandy Terranova is vice president, marketing & circulation for Institutional Real Estate, Inc. and is responsible for developing and executing the company's circulation and advertising direct marketing campaigns for The Institutional Real Estate Letter – North America, The Institutional Real Estate Letter – Europe, The Institutional Real Estate Letter – Asia Pacific, Institutional Real Estate Newsline, Institutional Investing in Infrastructure and Institutional Real Estate FundTracker as well as IREI's online bookstore. She manages the marketing department, which includes circulation, advertising and the company's website. In addition, Sandy also negotiates IREI's marketing alliance endeavors with conference organizations and other service providers. Prior to joining IREI, she worked for Cloutier Agency, where she was responsible for direct marketing promotions, public relations and studio bookings. Sandy received her B.A. in journalism from California State University, Los Angeles.
LessAshlee Lambrix is the data services manager for Institutional Real Estate, Inc. (IREI). She leads and coordinates all sponsor and in-house data services projects. In addition to helping create and develop IREI's quarterly Institutional Real Estate FundTracker report, she also maintains 24 data services databases. She manages the data services department, which includes all the data collection for all special reports, research requests and IREI's annual Plan Sponsor Surveys. Ashlee joined IREI in 2004 and earned her bachelor's degree in political science from Sonoma State University.
LessJenny Guerrero serves as the financial manager and corporate secretary of IREI. She oversees the company's accounting and payroll functions, as well maintaining the official records and minutes of the corporation. She joined IREI in 2005 to manage the accounting area and was elected to the corporate secretary position in 2006 to present. She heads all of the company's accounting, payroll operations and corporate governance. Jenny studied accounting at the California State University, Hayward, and prior to joining IREI, she was the business manager for a woodworking production company.
LessMichael Laffey is the conference director for Institutional Real Estate, Inc. He has more than 15 years of experience executing events for companies both large and small. He spent 14 years with American Express assisting companies such as Ford Motor, Compuware, AT&T and more in a variety of roles before joining Cleantech Group in 2008 and helping to execute their industry-leading Cleantech Forums, the highly acclaimed and longest running events in the clean technology space.
Originally from Michigan, Michael holds a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University and an MBA in marketing from The Baker Center for Graduate Studies.
